Memotori Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 30, 2026

Overview. Memotori performs all recording, transcription, and summarization on the user’s Mac. Audio, transcripts, and summaries are never transmitted to any external server. The developer cannot receive or view them.

For the Windows version, please also see “Memotori for Windows” below.

Information collected

This application does not collect personal information, and no account registration is required. It does not transmit audio, transcripts, summaries, dictionary entries, or speaker names and voiceprints; it does not measure usage, perform analytics, or send crash reports automatically; it does not serve advertising or use identifiers for advertising or analytics purposes; and it does not track user activity across other companies’ services.

Where data is stored

All data created by this application is stored on the user’s Mac. Recorded audio is saved to a folder designated by the user; transcript and summary history, dictionary entries, summary formats, speaker names and voiceprints, and models are stored in ~/Library/Application Support/Memotori/. This data may be deleted by the user at any time. Deleting the application also removes this data, with the exception of recordings stored in the folder designated by the user.

Network connections

Model downloads. Models used for transcription and summarization are retrieved from Hugging Face (huggingface.co). Only a retrieval request for the relevant file is transmitted; it contains no audio or transcript content belonging to the user. Downloads are performed only in response to user action.

In-app purchase. The application communicates with the Apple App Store in order to purchase and restore “Memotori Pro”. This processing is carried out by Apple, and no payment information is provided to the developer. Apple’s handling of such information is governed by Apple’s privacy policy.

Summarization is performed by running a bundled program locally on the user’s Mac (127.0.0.1). This communication is not transmitted outside the Mac.

Microphone and screen recording permissions

The microphone is used only for recording; captured audio is processed on the device. The screen recording permission is required by macOS in order to record audio played by applications such as meeting software (system audio); this application does not capture, store, or transmit the contents of the screen. These permissions may be revoked at any time in macOS System Settings.

Memotori for Windows

For Memotori for Windows (distributed through the Microsoft Store), the sections of this policy apply as modified below. Anything not mentioned here is the same as above.

Where data is stored. All data created by this application is stored on your PC. Recorded audio is saved to Documents\Memotori (can be changed in Settings). Transcription and summary history, the glossary, summary formats, settings, speaker names and voiceprints, and the models used for transcription, speaker identification, and summarization are kept in the app’s private storage (under %LOCALAPPDATA%\Packages\). If you uninstall the application, this data is deleted as well, except for recorded audio.

Network connections. The Windows version connects to the internet only in the following cases.

Model downloads. Models for transcription, speaker identification, and summarization are downloaded from Hugging Face (huggingface.co) and GitHub (github.com). Only the request for the file is sent; your audio and transcripts are never included. Downloads happen only when you start them.

Add-on purchase. To purchase “Memotori Pro” and check its purchase status, the app communicates with the Microsoft Store. This is handled by Microsoft, and no payment information is provided to the developer. Microsoft’s handling is governed by the Microsoft Privacy Statement.

A summarization server you specify. Only if you choose an external server (such as Ollama or LM Studio) as the summarization method in Settings, the transcript to be summarized is sent to the address you entered. The default (built-in) method sends nothing. Handling on that server is governed by whoever operates it.

With the default method, summaries are produced by a program bundled with the application, running on your PC (127.0.0.1). This communication never leaves your PC.

Microphone. The microphone is used only while recording, and audio is processed on your device. You can revoke access at any time in Windows Settings > Privacy & security > Microphone. Audio playing on your PC (such as the other participants in a meeting app) is recorded only when you choose it as the recording source; the app never captures screen content.

Children’s privacy

This application is not directed at children, and collects no personal information from users of any age.
